The Travellers Rest is just outside walking distance. For many years this was a smoky local pub hidden away and frequented by people 'in the know'. Then taken over and completely refurbished as a bistro, it was sold on again a year or two ago to a family who have made it friendly and good value whilst retaining the quality of the food.

On summer evenings it's nice to sit outside at one of the few tables. The only clue to local industry is the tip of the chimney at Fawley generating station, almost hidden by trees on the far side of the narrow grassy valley where deer can frequently be seen.
