High Corner Inn
The High Corner Inn is so popular in the summer now that it has been described as a tourist trap. But you go there for location, location, location! This is good territory for a long forest walk. Arrive early to eat at the pub or you'll wait a long time to be fed. Most reviewers find the food ordinary, but for lovers of cask beer, especially Wadworth's 6X, that is a redeeming feature.
For eating there are several small rather ordinary rooms, and a large forest garden with trees and picnic tables. Children are welcome. Car parking can be a problem, so mountain bikers have the edge.
On a sunny day start out really early. Allow the best part of an hour from Arden House by car and of course two or more on a bike, plus walking time if you do want to build up a good appetite.
Not only is this pub in a delightful secluded spot, but the journey there and back takes you through stunning forest scenery, so it's really worth the trip.
