Walking from the High Corner Inn
Here are three options, all taken from Walk 18 'Around Linwood' in David Foster's excellent book 'Jarrold Short Walks: New Forest', ISBN 0-7117-2425-3, well worth buying for detailed descriptions and nature notes for forest walks from this and nineteen other starting points.
Option 1. About three hours good walking: 5.5 miles.
Walk down the track to the stream: David's Point 'C'. Pick up his directions from there, walk round to his finishing point. Then go back to the beginning and start off till you get back to point 'C'. Walk up the track back to the High Corner Inn - as he suggests in italics at the top of page 66.
Option 2. About About an hour and a half: 2.5 miles.
Walk down the track to the stream: David's Point 'C'. Pick up his directions from there, walk round to his finishing point. Then go back to the beginning and start off along the roadside verge till you see the sign to High Corner Inn. Take the gravel road back to the pub.
Option 3. About two hours leisurely walking: 3 miles.
Set off up the gravel road you came down, but where the road beds round to the right keep straight on along a path to the road. Then pick up David's recommended route towards Broomy Lodge, veering left away from the road again. Keep on David's route till you get to point 'C' in his description. Walk up the track back to the High Corner Inn - as he suggests in italics at the top of page 66.
