Walking from the Red Shoot Inn
Here are two options, both taken from Walk 18 'Around Linwood' in David Foster's excellent book 'Jarrold Short Walks: New Forest', ISBN 0-7117-2425-3, well worth buying for detailed descriptions and nature notes for forest walks from this and nineteen other starting points.
Option 1: About three hours good walking: 5 miles.
Leave the Red Shoot Inn, turn left along the road and follow David's instructions from halfway down page 67. At the end of his walk go back to the beginning and continue till he gets you back to the Red Shoot Inn again.
Option 2: About an hour and a half: 3 miles.
Leave the Red Shoot Inn, turn left and walk along the road and verge (beware of traffic) till you reach the sign to High Corner Inn. You will have passed this on your way to the pub. Walk down the track past the High Corner Inn to the stream at the bottom of the hill [point 'C' in the book]. Follow David's suggestions round to the Red Shoot Inn.
