Arriving by bus
From Southampton the bus journey is easy. You can pick up a bus very near the railway station or not far from the coach station.
At the railway station, leave by the exit on platform 1. Cross the road, walk a little to the right and then up the road to the left. There are several bus stops. You need the first of those.
At the coach station, leave by the main exit and you will find yourself at a crossroads. The ASDA supermarket is on the opposite corner. Cross the road twice and find your way round the supermarket, leaving ASDA on your left hand side and climbing up the hill. The bus stop is in front of ASDA in Portland Terrace.
You are waiting for a blue bus, number 9, probably a modern single decker, going in the direction of Hythe and then Blackfield, Langley, or Fawley. During weekdays these buses run at twenty minute intervals; in rush hours more frequently, and late at night every hour. An outline of bus times is at the Blue Star Route 9 summary page, where you can download a full timetable to be sure.
Once on the bus ask the driver to put you off at The Croft in Hythe. There is a row of trees behind the bus stop. Our house is the last one in the row, in the direction of Hythe.
